FAQ
Questions and answers
What people ask before a first visit.
01What happens at the first visit?
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes. You talk with Dr. Karapetian about your training and what you want from care, and he examines how you move. He then explains what he found and what the options are. Treatment starts that day only if you agree.
02Is chiropractic care safe?
Most people have no serious problems, but every treatment has risks. Soreness after an adjustment is the common one. Rare serious problems have been reported, including after neck adjustments, and your doctor explains the risks to you before your first adjustment. You can say no to any part of care. The signs that mean emergency care are listed at the end of our services page.
03Will it hurt?
Many people feel pressure or a stretch, and some are sore for a day or so afterward, the way you can be after a hard workout. Tell Dr. Karapetian if anything is uncomfortable, and he will change what he does or stop.
04How many visits will I need?
Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and reviews it with you as you go. We do not set a number of visits in advance, because it depends on your exam, your goals and how you respond.
05Do you take my insurance?
We bill some PPO plans, and what a plan pays for chiropractic visits differs from plan to plan. Our front desk checks yours before your first visit and tells you what they find. The how fees work page has the details.
06What if I do not use insurance?
You can pay for visits yourself. If you do, we give you a written Good Faith Estimate in advance, and an itemized receipt after each visit that you can send to your plan. Ask us.
07Do I need x-rays?
Not always. We take x-rays only when medically necessary, and Dr. Karapetian explains why before he orders any.
08Can I bring my teenager, or come while pregnant?
A teenager who plays a sport comes with a parent or guardian. If you are pregnant, tell us when you book. Your doctor will talk through what care is appropriate and is glad to coordinate with your OB or midwife.
09What if I am already seeing another provider?
Tell us. With your permission we can share notes with your physician or physical therapist. If your symptoms need a physician first, we will say so.
10What is your cancellation policy?
Please call us as early as you can if you cannot make a visit. Ask the front desk about the practice’s cancellation policy when you book.
